My work has roots drawn from ethnic contemporary motifs and concepts.  I believe that the essence of a great artist is to be open to new ideas and to be bold and deliberate in delving into the realms of the unknown as far as experimenting with colors and form dynamics is concerned

It’s not enough to see art.  I have to experience art & beauty and try to recreate it.  I have to express my reaction to the surprises of life, to the whimsical in 3 dimensions – oil, ceramic, wood, in whatever way possible.

Diane Honegger   Medium: Oil and Soft Pastel

I am primarily self-taught but I credit several sources with furthering my skills: Daniel Greene, Portrait Artist; Susan Sarback, School of Light and Color; Victoria Brooks, Impressionist Artist; Marliyn Rose, Impressionist Artist; plus a wide variety of books and videos put out by professional artists.  My preferred mediums are oil and soft pastel.

For me, art is a journey; the end product  is the result of that journey.  Each still life and landscape I select presents its own unique challenge.  I enjoy the process and hate to see each painting end.  I can be contacted through the 404 Art Gallery

James Brunk   Media: Oil

I'm an octogenarian landscape painter.  I painted in watercolor for many years while living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  After returning to California and studying at Scottsdale Artists School I now paint in oil; both plein air and studio.

Favorite subject: the High Sierra.  He is active in Placer Arts & Sacramento Fine Arts Center

Judith Huth   Media: Oil

The best finger painter in first grade -- so began my lifelong interest in art and painting.  It wasn't until retirement, when I was given a set of oil paints as a gift, that I was able to pursue my dreams on a full-time basis.  I attended several weeks of training from Johnnie Liliedahl and have taken workshops from several well known painters including David Leffel & Morgan Weistling,

My painting medium is oil.  It gives me the depth of color and jewel tones that I desire.  I experiment with many different techniques, so my painting style is always evolving.  Florals are a favorite subject matter, but with a twist - I rev up the colors, supersize them, and/or totally change the colors.

I also work with photography - but with a twist.  I produce "digital watercolors" or "digital oil paintings".  I try to take an ordinary photo and elevate it to a "work of art".

Art touches our soul and can awaken us to truth and change our hearts.  In my work I intend to tell a story, to inspire, and make an impassioned profession of my faith. I aim to create something in between mere symbol and ordinary reality, to depict transcendence from the natural to the supernatural and to reflect both levels of existence.

Maliheh Bartolomeo

Art and mother earth are my soul. I always loved nature and had a fascination with beautiful colors and scenery. That love encouraged me to create some art forms ever since I was a young girl.

I have traveled through many different countries, and seen the beauty of nature, people with beautiful culture and languages. Through art I have found a place, where I do feel I can communicate with the world.

Michael D. Smith     Media: acrylics/photography

I like shapes, colors, textures, etc. for what they are, not necessarily what they portray.  My compositions are based on the feeling of or the affect of the elements more so than the composition itself.  I manipulate photographs and paint with acrylics; I like freeform, unrestrained art and the feeling of no rules or boundries.  I like images that trigger the imagination and often imply objects and let the viewers mind complete the picture.  916.300.5488

Painting & drawing since an early age, I have developed a style that reflects my love of the sea and the natural beauty of the West Coast.

I have been inspired by great American artists such as Thomas Eakins and Winslow Homer and believe that nature itself is our best teacher.  Painting & drawing since an early age, I have developed a style that reflects my love of the sea and the natural beauty of the West Coast.I have been inspired by great American artists such as Thomas Eakins and Winslow Homer and believe that nature itself is our best teacher.

Pablo Galvan
Media: Oil

Pablo states, "I grew up in a large family, this forced me to hide inside my own mind".  Siblings became involved in the arts and attracted his attention.  Trained locally at Sierra College, he is highly experimental in his work and fearless in the use of color.  In fact he says that 'color comes easily and quickly to him'.  He paints at an emotional level, and life makes an impact on his art - a conversation or event can trigger a painting.

He is influenced by surreal and Asian art.  916.878.6472
Ron Oshima   Media: Oil

I enjoy painting natural landscapes, plant communities, and outdoor scenes which contain interesting contrasts of light and color.

Although I paint in oils on larger formats, I continue to experiment with various techniques and styles in order to add variety and fresh perspectives to my work. The changing seasons with their characteristic colors and weather always provide ample stimulation and challenge.

Sheila Mun Jacobs

Media: Oil, watercolor, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics and paper Mach'e

I believe it's in our innate nature to create, each creation dipping into one's soul - who we are, our culture, our experiences, our life's joys and sorrows. Along with it, our attitude and our wildest imagination and fantasies. The creative process can be soul searching, reflective, relaxing to an extent, but quite intense at times.

My style is varied from realism, surrealism and abstract and my medium ranges from oil, watercolor, mix media, printmaking, ceramics, and paper Mache'. The combination of varied style and medium is exciting and challenging.
